BOLT Competitions in a nutshell

  • The lifter can choose from among 6 exercises and compete in one lift or as many as he/she wants up to six lifts.
  • Lifters compete with lifters of the same gender, age group, and weight category.
  • The athletes compete to see who is able to lift the most weight (in kilograms) during a timed set.
  • The athletes are allowed to place the weights down during the set or to switch the kettlebell from hand to hand during the set (in other kettlebell sports this would end the set but it's allowed in BOLT)


  1. Check In & Weigh-In Saturday 1:30 pm*
  2. 2:00 pm rules briefing, 
  3. 2:30 pm start events, with 5 minute break between each heat.
* Athletes who require weigh-in prior to Saturday, please email organizers at to request an appointment.

About BOLT™

BOLT™ is  an endurance kettlebell lifting sport. The goal is to lift as many kilograms as possible within the competition time.

At the end of the competition, the athlete places according to how she/he scored in comparison to the other participants of the same gender, age and weight category. 

Bolt athletes can rank only at an official IKLF Bolt meet.
